Group: Walnut Creek Wild Ones
Location: In Walnut Creek Metropolitan Park, the edge of the woods west of the trail west of Wells Branch, upstream of the park road to the first clearing
Event Notes: As part of an It's My Park! Day cleanup event, 1 volunteer spent 2 hours removing unsightly vegetative trash—54 Ligustrum lucidum (glossy privet) and 1 Pistacia chinensis (Chinese pistache)—from the edge of the woods. Specimens removed were saplings up to 5 feet tall, although at least a half dozen had been cut off at or near the base and resprouted. All were small enough to fit in the jaws of the smallest Weed Wrench, although many just barely fit. Removal opened up the woodlands and exposed many ligustrum trees that will require saws to remove.
